In a bowl, combine the ground beef with salt and black pepper. Form into 4 equal-sized patties.
In a hot skillet or on a grill, cook the patties for 3-4 minutes on one side, then flip.
After flipping, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty, then cover the skillet to allow the cheese to melt.
In a separate skillet or on the grill, cook the pineapple slices for 1-2 minutes on each side, until lightly caramelized.
Halve the hamburger buns and spread butter on the cut sides. Toast in a skillet until golden brown.
On the bottom half of each bun, spread mayonnaise and BBQ sauce, then add a lettuce leaf.
Place the cheeseburger patty on top, then add the grilled pineapple and a slice of tomato.
Spread ketchup on the top half of the bun, then place it on the burger.
Serve immediately with French fries or a fresh salad.
