Combine the ground beef with salt and pepper, then form into 4 equal-sized patties. TIP: Keep the beef cold for better shape retention during cooking.
Heat a grill pan over medium heat and melt the butter. Cook the patties for 3-4 minutes on each side, until golden brown and cooked through.
In a small bowl, mix together the honey and BBQ sauce. During the last minute of cooking, brush the patties with the honey BBQ sauce and let it caramelize.
At the end of cooking, place the cheddar cheese slices on top of the patties and cover the pan to allow the cheese to melt beautifully.
Toast the inside of the hamburger buns in the grill pan until crispy.
Prepare the vegetables: slice the tomato and red onion, and wash the iceberg lettuce leaves.
Assemble the burgers: Place the lettuce on the bottom bun, followed by the honey BBQ glazed patty, tomato slices, red onion, and spread the remaining BBQ sauce on the top bun.
Serve hot with french fries or a fresh salad. TIP: Offer extra BBQ sauce for dipping.
