Mince the garlic finely. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, heat the olive oil, then add the minced garlic. Sauté for 1-2 minutes, until fragrant.
Add the tomato puree, honey, brown sugar, and apple cider vinegar. Stir well to combine.
Stir in the smoked paprika, chili powder, salt, and black pepper, then pour in the Worcestershire sauce and water. Mix thoroughly.
Bring to a simmer over low heat for 15-20 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened and the flavors have melded.
Taste and adjust seasoning, adding more honey for sweetness or more chili powder for a spicier kick, if desired.
Let the barbecue sauce cool slightly before serving with grilled meats, chicken wings, or roasted vegetables. Store in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
