Hotcake served with maple syrup and fruit

Hotcake

Hotcakes, also known as fluffy pancakes, are a beloved breakfast staple worldwide, bridging the gap between American pancakes and Japanese soufflé pancakes. Japanese hotcakes are particularly popular, being taller and airier than traditional pancakes, yet easy to prepare. The sweet, soft texture harmonizes perfectly with maple syrup and fresh fruit. Whether for a weekend breakfast or a light dessert, it's an excellent choice that everyone will enjoy!

    Preparation Steps

    1

In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.

    2

In another bowl, whisk the eggs, then add the milk and vanilla extract.

    3

Gradually whisk the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until you have a thick, smooth batter.

    4

Pour the melted butter into the batter and stir gently to combine.

    5

Heat a lightly greased griddle or frying pan over medium heat.

    6

Pour about 1/2 ladle of batter onto the hot griddle for each hotcake. Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until bubbles form on the surface.

    7

Carefully flip the hotcakes and cook for another 1-2 minutes, or until golden brown.

    8

Repeat the process with the remaining batter until all hotcakes are cooked.

    9

Serve warm, drizzled with maple syrup or honey, and garnished with fresh fruit.
