Prepare the ingredients: deseed and finely chop the jalapeño peppers, peel and finely chop the garlic and red onion, and thoroughly rinse the mixed berries.
In a medium-sized saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped red onion and sauté for 3-4 minutes, or until translucent.
Add the chopped garlic and jalapeño peppers, and sauté for another 2 minutes, or until fragrant.
Pour in the beer, then add the brown sugar and apple cider vinegar. Stir well until the sugar is dissolved.
Add the mixed berries, salt, and pepper, then stir to combine.
Bring the sauce to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low and cook for 15-20 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened and the flavors have melded.
Taste the sauce, and if necessary, adjust the flavors with more sugar for sweetness or jalapeño for extra heat.
Let the sauce cool slightly, then blend until smooth using an immersion blender. Serve with grilled meats, roasted vegetables, or pasta.
