Freshly made Japanese hamburger with teriyaki glaze and wasabi

Japanese Hamburger (Teriyaki, Wasabi)

The Japanese hamburger is where the traditional American burger meets the flavors of Japanese cuisine. The sweet and savory aroma of teriyaki sauce harmonizes perfectly with the juicy ground beef, while the mild spiciness of wasabi adds excitement to the flavors. In Japan, such fusion dishes are extremely popular, especially in street food culture. Sesame seeds and pickled ginger further enhance the authentic Asian experience that you can easily prepare at home.

    Preparation Steps

    1

In a bowl, combine the ground beef with salt, black pepper, soy sauce, and grated ginger. Form the mixture into 4 equal-sized patties.

    2

In a hot skillet or on a grill, cook the patties for 3-4 minutes on one side, then flip.

    3

After flipping, brush the patties with teriyaki sauce. Cover the skillet to allow the flavors to meld.

    4

Halve the hamburger buns and spread butter on the cut sides. Toast them in a skillet until golden brown.

    5

Place an iceberg lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun, then top with a teriyaki-glazed beef patty.

    6

Add cucumber slices and thinly sliced red onion to the top of the patty, then sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds.

    7

Spread a small amount of wasabi paste on the top half of each bun, then place it on the burger.

    8

Serve immediately with French fries or pickled ginger.
