500 g Beef (cut into cubes)
500 g Pork (cut into cubes)
2 Onions (sliced)
2 Carrots (sliced)
2 Bay Leaves
1 tsp Whole Black Peppercorns
1 tsp Salt
1.5 l Water
10 g Fresh Parsley (chopped, for serving)

    Preparation Steps

    Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large Dutch oven or oven-safe pot, layer the beef and pork.

    Add the sliced onions and carrots on top of the meat.

    Sprinkle with the bay leaves, whole black peppercorns, and salt.

    Pour in enough water to almost cover the meats. Cover the pot with a lid or aluminum foil.

    Place the pot in the preheated oven and cook for 2.5-3 hours, or until the meat is very tender. Check occasionally and add more water if needed.

    Serve the Karjalanpaisti hot, garnished with fresh parsley. Serve with boiled potatoes or rye bread.
