Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C) and grease a cake pan.
In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and lemon zest.
Melt the butter and cream it with the sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing until smooth.
Add the lemon juice, then gradually mix in the dry ingredients and milk, until you have a smooth, homogeneous batter.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Let the cake cool completely, then slice it in half horizontally and fill with whipped cream.
Dust the top of the cake with powdered sugar and decorate with thin lemon slices.
