Lemon liqueur served in a bottle

Lemon Liqueur

Lemon liqueur, or as many know it, limoncello, is one of the best-known Italian homemade liqueurs. The intense aroma of lemon zest and the sweetness of sugar are in perfect harmony, creating a refreshing yet richly flavored drink. This liqueur is an ideal choice with desserts or as a gift. Tip: For an even more intense flavor, use organic lemons and let the liqueur mature for a longer time.

    Preparation Steps

    1

Thoroughly wash the lemons and peel them thinly, being careful not to include the white pith, as it can be bitter.

    2

Place the lemon zest in a large jar and pour the vodka over it. Cover the jar and let it sit in a dark, cool place for 7-10 days. Shake the jar daily to help release the aroma of the zest.

    3

In a saucepan, heat the water and stir in the sugar until completely dissolved. Let the sugar syrup cool completely.

    4

Strain the lemon-infused vodka through a fine-mesh sieve to remove the zest.

    5

Combine the strained vodka and the cooled sugar syrup. Mix well, then pour into sterilized bottles.

    6

Let the lemon liqueur rest for at least 2 weeks to allow the flavors to meld before serving.
