Sift the matcha powder into a small bowl to remove any clumps.
Bring water to a boil, then let it cool slightly to around 175°F (80°C).
Pour about 50 ml of the hot water over the matcha powder, and whisk with a bamboo whisk or small whisk until smooth and frothy.
Add the remaining hot water and stir well. For a creamier flavor, add warm milk.
Sweeten with honey or sugar to taste, and serve immediately.
