Meat Casserole Pasta is one of the most popular, mouth-watering dishes in Hungarian cuisine. The pasta is layered with a delicious meat ragu, baked together in a rich sour cream sauce, resulting in a creamy, filling dish. Meat casserole pasta is usually made with ground meat in a stew-based sauce, and the spicy filling hidden between the layers of pasta makes every bite even more delicious.
This recipe is an indispensable part of family meals because it is easy to prepare and plentiful enough for several people. Whether it's an ordinary dinner or a Sunday lunch, meat casserole pasta is always a successful choice!
Cook the pasta in salted boiling water until al dente, then drain.
Heat olive oil in a skillet and sauté the finely chopped onion and garlic until softened.
Add the ground meat, season with salt, pepper, oregano, and basil. Cook until the meat is browned.
Pour in the tomato sauce and simmer over medium heat for 10-15 minutes, or until the sauce has slightly thickened.
Grease a baking dish, pour in the cooked pasta, add the meat sauce, and mix well.
Sprinkle grated cheese on top, then bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (180°C) for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
Let it cool slightly before serving, then slice and serve.
