In a bowl, combine the ground pork, breadcrumbs, egg, finely chopped onion, minced garlic, and chopped parsley. Season with salt, pepper, and grated Parmesan cheese.
Shape the mixture into small meatballs and place them on a plate.
Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Brown the meatballs on all sides until golden brown. Set aside.
In the same skillet, prepare the tomato sauce. Pour in the tomato puree, add the sugar, dried oregano, dried basil, and water. Season with salt and pepper.
Simmer the sauce over medium heat for 10-15 minutes, or until slightly thickened.
Return the meatballs to the sauce and cook for an additional 10 minutes over low heat to allow the flavors to meld.
Serve the meatballs sprinkled with fresh parsley, accompanied by pasta or rice.
