Prepare the ingredients: chop the green onions, garlic, and ginger.
In a small bowl, mix the miso paste with water to evenly distribute its flavor throughout the rice.
Heat a tablespoon of oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the garlic and ginger and sauté for 30 seconds, or until fragrant.
Add the cooked rice to the skillet and mix with the sautéed garlic and ginger.
Pour in the miso mixture and soy sauce, then stir thoroughly to coat all the grains of rice with the seasoning.
Add sesame oil, then stir-fry the rice for 2-3 minutes over medium heat, allowing it to caramelize slightly.
When serving, sprinkle with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
