Divide the meat into four equal portions and form them into patties.
Heat a skillet or grill over medium-high heat and lightly grease it with olive oil.
Cook the patties for about 3-4 minutes per side, until nicely browned.
During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of mozzarella on each patty and let it melt.
Halve the hamburger buns and toast them lightly in a dry skillet or on the grill.
Spread mayonnaise and pesto on the bottom half of each bun, then top with a lettuce leaf.
Place the mozzarella-topped patty on top of the lettuce.
Add tomato slices, red onion rings, and pickle slices.
Sprinkle with fresh basil leaves, then top with the other half of the bun.
Serve immediately with French fries or a fresh salad.
