Oatmeal and honey croissant served

Oatmeal and Honey Croissants

The croissant is one of the most famous pastries in French bakeries, which can be prepared in countless variations. The oatmeal and honey croissant is a healthier version that combines the crispy texture of oatmeal and the natural sweetness of honey with the light layers of the classic croissant. Adding oatmeal not only increases nutritional value but also lends a slightly nutty flavor to the pastry. If you like healthier but still delicious pastries, this recipe is definitely worth trying!

    Preparation Steps

    1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

    2

In a bowl, combine the flour, rolled oats, and salt.

    3

In a separate bowl, warm the milk until lukewarm, add the yeast and honey, then let it stand for 5 minutes.

    4

To the flour mixture, add the eggs, the lukewarm milk-yeast mixture, and the vanilla extract, then start to combine the ingredients.

    5

Crumble in the cold butter and knead until you get a smooth and elastic dough.

    6

Roll out the dough to about 1/8 inch (3 mm) thickness, then cut it into equal-sized triangles.

    7

Roll up the triangles into croissant shapes and place them on the prepared baking sheet.

    8

Let the croissants proof for 20 minutes to allow them to become lighter after baking.

    9

Brush the tops with egg wash, then sprinkle with a little rolled oats.

    10

Bake for 18-20 minutes, until golden brown and crispy.

    11

Once cooled, drizzle a little honey over them before serving.
