    Preparation Steps

    1

Prepare the ingredients. Let the butter soften at room temperature for easier handling. Whisk the egg with the sugar.

    2

In a bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, a pinch of salt, and the almonds.

    3

Add the whisked egg, softened butter, and orange zest. Mix well until a smooth dough forms.

    4

Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.

    5

Once the dough has chilled, roll it out to about 5 mm thickness on a lightly floured surface. Use a cookie cutter to cut out the Linzer cookies. Cut out the center of half of the cookies to create a window for the jam.

    6

Bake the Linzer cookies in a preheated oven at 350°F (180°C) for 8-10 minutes, or until golden brown.

    7

Once the Linzer cookies have cooled, spread jam on the whole cookies, and top them with the cookies with the cut-out centers. Sprinkle the tops of the assembled Linzer cookies with a pinch of cinnamon or a dusting of powdered sugar.
