Orange ginger tea served fresh

Orange Ginger Tea

The history of ginger tea dates back thousands of years and is found in many cultures, especially in Asian and Middle Eastern countries. Ginger has been used for medicinal purposes since ancient times, particularly to relieve colds and digestive ailments. Over the years, the combination of ginger and citrus fruits has become popular, as the freshness of the orange perfectly complements the slightly spicy flavor of the ginger. This recipe is a perfect choice for the cold winter months when we need a warming, vitamin-rich drink. Adding cinnamon and cloves not only enriches the flavor but also enhances the health benefits. Tip: To make it even more special, you can enrich the flavor with a little freshly squeezed lemon juice!

    Preparation Steps

    1

Prepare the ingredients. Peel the ginger and slice it into thin rounds. Wash the orange thoroughly, then cut it in half. Slice one half thinly, and juice the other half.

    2

Bring 500 ml of water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Once the water starts boiling, add the ginger, cinnamon stick, and cloves.

    3

Reduce the heat to medium and let the spices simmer gently for 10 minutes. During this time, the ginger and cinnamon will release their aromas.

    4

Add the orange slices and the squeezed orange juice, then simmer for another 5 minutes on low heat.

    5

Turn off the heat and let the tea steep for 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld even more.

    6

Strain the tea through a fine-mesh sieve into a heat-resistant pitcher or mug.

    7

Add honey to taste, and stir until completely dissolved. Serve hot and enjoy the warming, spicy flavors.
