    Preparation Steps

    1

Prepare the ingredients. Peel, core, and dice the pears into small cubes.

    2

In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and a pinch of salt.

    3

Cut the cold butter into cubes. Add the butter to the flour mixture and rub it in with your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs.

    4

Add the diced pears to the dough and mix thoroughly.

    5

In a separate bowl, whisk the egg and then add the milk. Gradually add the egg mixture to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined to form a dough.

    6

Shape the dough into a disc and place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Slightly flatten the top and use a sharp knife to cut crosswise slits into the top.

    7

Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (180°C) for 15-20 minutes, or until the scones are golden brown.

    8

Let the scones cool slightly before serving.
