Pickled limes served in a jar

Pickled Limes

Pickled limes are a uniquely fresh and tangy condiment often used in Indian, Middle Eastern, and Mexican cuisines. Pickling citrus not only increases its shelf life but also results in deeper, more complex flavors. Cinnamon and cloves add sweet notes, while black pepper and mustard seeds lend a subtle spiciness. This pickle is an excellent accompaniment to cheeses, roasted meats, or even exotic salads. If you love unique flavors, this recipe is worth trying!

    Preparation Steps

    1

Thoroughly wash the limes and slice them thinly, or cut them into wedges, keeping the peel on.

    2

Choose a clean mason jar and place the lime slices inside.

    3

In a saucepan, bring to a boil the water, white wine vinegar, honey, brown sugar, salt, cinnamon stick, cloves, bay leaves, black peppercorns, and mustard seeds.

    4

Once the brine has come to a boil, let it cool slightly, so it's not too hot when poured over the limes.

    5

Pour the cooled brine over the limes, ensuring they are completely submerged.

    6

Seal the jar and let it sit in the refrigerator for at least 24 hours, but the longer it sits, the more flavorful it will become.

    7

Before serving, let it stand at room temperature for 10 minutes to allow the flavors to fully develop.
