Pide served

Pide

Pide, also known as Turkish flatbread pizza, is a traditional Middle Eastern dish often enjoyed for dinner or on special occasions. The boat-shaped dough is generously topped with a rich meat and vegetable mixture, made even more special with fresh herbs. The history of pide goes back to the deep traditions of Turkish cuisine, where it was a central part of family meals. When serving, it is best enjoyed sprinkled with fresh parsley and drizzled with olive oil.

    Preparation Steps

    1

Prepare the dough: combine the flour, water, yeast, and salt. Knead until you have a smooth dough, then let it rise for 1 hour in a warm place.

    2

Make the topping: sauté the ground meat in olive oil. Add the finely chopped tomatoes, bell pepper, onion, and garlic, then season with paprika, cumin, and black pepper.

    3

Preheat the oven to 430°F (220°C) and prepare a baking sheet.

    4

Roll out the dough into an oval shape. Spread the meat and vegetable mixture on top, then fold up the edges to form a boat shape.

    5

Bake the pide for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is cooked through.

    6

After baking, sprinkle with fresh parsley and drizzle with olive oil. Serve warm.
