Plum Jam Crescent Rolls are one of the classic Hungarian pastries that everyone loves to make at home. The delicious, soft dough and rich plum jam create a perfect combination that offers new flavor experiences with every bite. The crescent rolls are best enjoyed fresh and warm, when the jam is slightly hot and the dough is tender.
This pastry often appears on festive tables, at family gatherings, but is also a favorite snack for everyday lunches and breakfasts. In making plum jam crescent rolls, not only the flavors but also the texture of the dough plays an important role, as the crumbly, soft dough and the thick, sweet jam create a unique harmony of flavors.
Activate the yeast in lukewarm milk with one tablespoon of sugar.
In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt. Add the activated yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg.
Knead the dough until smooth. Cover and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough thinly and cut it into triangles.
Place a teaspoon of plum jam on the wide end of each triangle, then roll it up towards the point.
Place the crescent rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (180°C) for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
While still warm, sprinkle with powdered sugar and let cool.
