Plum Strudel is a traditional Hungarian dessert, especially popular in the spring when fresh plums are in season. The strudel dough is light and crispy, and the sweet and tart taste of the plums makes a perfect combination. Plum strudel is a truly mouth-watering delicacy, perfect as a dessert after a family meal.
The plum strudel is traditionally prepared by filling the strudel dough with fresh plums, sugar and cinnamon, then gently baking until everything is crispy and fragrant. You can make a bowl of warm plum strudel with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream even more special.
Wash the plums, halve them, and remove the pits. Slice into smaller pieces.
In a bowl, combine the sliced plums with sugar and cinnamon.
Lay the strudel dough sheets on a damp kitchen towel, then lightly brush each sheet with oil.
Sprinkle the center of the dough sheets with breadcrumbs, then evenly spread the plum filling over them.
Fold in the edges of the strudel dough sheets, then carefully roll them up, ensuring the filling doesn't spill out.
Place the rolled strudels on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, and brush the tops with melted butter.
Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (180°C) for about 25-30 minutes, or until the strudel is golden brown.
Serve the plum strudel dusted with powdered sugar, warm or cooled.
