Pomegranate scone served

Pomegranate Scones

The scone is a traditional British pastry, extremely popular in the United Kingdom and Ireland. The pomegranate version is particularly well-liked, as the fresh taste of the fruit perfectly complements the soft, crumbly texture of the scone. You can easily make this recipe at home to offer a tempting treat to your family or guests.

    Preparation Steps

    1

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

    2

Cut the cold butter into small cubes and rub it into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.

    3

Add the egg, milk, and vanilla sugar, then quickly mix until just combined.

    4

Once the dough comes together, gently fold in the pomegranate seeds, being careful not to crush them.

    5

Place the dough on a lightly floured surface and form it into a disc about 1 inch (3 cm) thick.

    6

Cut the disc into 6-8 wedges and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.

    7

Once baked, let them cool for a few minutes before serving fresh.
