Quince Cheese is a special Hungarian dessert that has been part of eating habits for centuries. The distinctive spicy and slightly tart taste of quince perfectly harmonizes with sugar, with the help of which we can make a thick, jelly-like dessert from the fruit. The finished quince cheese is traditionally cut into slices and often placed on the table in the winter months, but it can be a perfect addition to a hearty lunch or festive dinner at any time. The special smell and taste of quince always makes the moments when we consume it memorable.
Quince cheese is not only delicious, but also serves as a real energy bomb, as quince is full of vitamins and minerals that have a beneficial effect on our health.
Wash, peel, and chop the quince into smaller pieces.
Place the quince in a saucepan, cover with water, and cook until tender.
Once the quince is tender, drain it, and then purée using an immersion blender.
Add the sugar and lemon juice, then cook until the mixture thickens and begins to pull away from the sides of the pot.
Pour the mixture into a baking pan lined with parchment paper and let it cool completely and solidify, which may take several days.
Once the quince cheese is completely solidified, slice and serve.
