In a medium saucepan, bring the water to a boil. Add the salt and the rinsed rice.
Cover the saucepan and cook over low heat for 12-15 minutes, or until the rice has absorbed the liquid and is tender.
While the rice is cooking, toast the sliced almonds in a dry skillet over medium heat for 2-3 minutes, until lightly golden brown.
Add a little butter or olive oil, then sprinkle in the raisins and sauté for another 1-2 minutes, until they plump up slightly.
If you prefer a sweeter flavor, add a touch of honey or sugar and stir well.
Remove from the heat and gently combine the cooked rice with the raisin and almond mixture.
Sprinkle with fresh parsley or cilantro and serve warm.
