Grate the ginger. Lightly crush the cardamom pods to release their flavor.
Thoroughly wash the orange and slice it thinly.
Pour the apple cider into a medium saucepan and warm over medium heat.
Add the cinnamon stick, cloves, cardamom pods, grated ginger, and orange slices.
Add the black tea bags and let steep for 5 minutes. Be careful not to boil the cider.
Remove the tea bags. Stir in the honey until completely dissolved.
Strain the chai cider to remove the spices and orange peel.
Serve warm in heatproof glasses, garnished with an orange slice or a pinch of cinnamon.
