Spiced hot cider freshly served

Spiced Hot Cider

The tradition of hot cider originates from North America and Europe, where people started consuming fresh apple juice in the form of a spiced drink after the autumn apple harvest. This warming drink is often offered at Christmas markets and family gatherings, as it perfectly warms the body and soul during the cold months. Cinnamon, cloves, and ginger not only flavor the drink but also support the immune system, making it an excellent natural remedy for the winter season. Tip: For an even more intense flavor, let the cider stand with the spices for a few hours before straining!

    Preparation Steps

    1

Prepare the ingredients. Wash the orange thoroughly and cut it into thick slices. Peel the ginger and slice it thinly.

    2

Pour the apple juice into a medium-sized saucepan and start heating it over medium heat.

    3

Add the cinnamon sticks, cloves, nutmeg, ginger, and orange slices. Stir gently.

    4

Heat the mixture slowly, but do not boil! Let it simmer gently for about 20 minutes, so that the aromas of the spices fully infuse the apple juice.

    5

Turn off the heat and let the mixture stand for 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

    6

Strain the cider through a fine-mesh sieve into a pitcher or directly into mugs.

    7

Add honey to taste and stir until completely dissolved. Serve hot!
