Grate the nutmeg fresh for a more intense flavor.
Wash the orange thoroughly, then slice it into thin rounds.
Pour the apple cider into a medium saucepan and heat over medium heat.
Add the grated nutmeg, cinnamon stick, cloves, and orange slices to the saucepan.
Heat the cider gently, being careful not to let it boil, to allow the flavors to meld. This will take about 15 minutes.
Stir in the honey until it is completely dissolved.
Strain the cider to remove the spices and orange peel.
Serve warm in heat-resistant glasses, garnished with a slice of orange or a sprinkle of freshly grated nutmeg.
