Spiced pickled cherries served in a jar

Spiced Pickled Cherries

Spiced pickled cherries are a truly special treat that offers a perfect harmony of sweet, sour, and spicy flavors. Cherries are traditionally enjoyed fresh or in desserts, but the spiced and pickled version adds a new dimension to this fruit. The sweetness of honey and brown sugar balances the acidity of the vinegar, while the chili and black pepper add a slight spiciness to the dish. This pickle pairs wonderfully with cheeses, roasted meats, or even gourmet salads. If you're looking for a truly unique and easy-to-make pickle, try this recipe!

    Preparation Steps

    1

Thoroughly wash the cherries and remove the stems.

    2

Select a clean canning jar and place the cherries inside.

    3

In a saucepan, bring the water, vinegar, honey, brown sugar, salt, cinnamon stick, cloves, bay leaves, black peppercorns, mustard seeds, and red pepper flakes to a boil.

    4

Once the pickling liquid has come to a boil, let it cool slightly so it's not too hot when poured over the cherries.

    5

Pour the cooled brine over the cherries, ensuring they are completely submerged.

    6

Seal the jar and let it sit in the refrigerator for at least 24 hours, but the longer it sits, the more flavorful it will become.

    7

Before serving, let it stand at room temperature for 10 minutes to allow the flavors to fully develop.
