Spiced pickled strawberries served in a jar

Spiced Pickled Strawberries

Spiced pickled strawberries are a truly unique dish that is simultaneously sweet, sour, and slightly spicy. While strawberries are traditionally eaten fresh or in desserts, this vinegary and spiced version adds a new dimension to the fruit. The sweetness of honey and brown sugar balances the acidity of the vinegar, while the chili and black pepper lend a subtle heat. This pickle pairs exceptionally well with cheeses, roasted meats, or even gourmet salads. If you're looking for a truly unique and easy-to-make pickle, give this recipe a try!

    Preparation Steps

    1

Thoroughly wash the strawberries and remove the green tops.

    2

Select a clean canning jar and place the strawberries inside.

    3

In a saucepan, bring to a boil the water, white wine vinegar, honey, brown sugar, salt, cinnamon stick, cloves, bay leaves, black peppercorns, mustard seeds, and red pepper flakes.

    4

Once the brine comes to a boil, let it cool slightly, so it's not too hot when poured over the strawberries.

    5

Pour the cooled brine over the strawberries, ensuring they are completely submerged.

    6

Seal the jar and refrigerate for at least 24 hours. The longer they sit, the more flavorful they will become.

    7

Before serving, let them sit at room temperature for 10 minutes to allow the flavors to fully develop.
