Peel and halve the garlic cloves. Place the bay leaves, mustard seeds, black peppercorns, and red pepper flakes at the bottom of a clean jar.
Arrange the cucumber slices in the jar, layering them with the spices and garlic.
Pour the hot pickling brine over the cucumbers, ensuring they are completely submerged.
Allow the jar to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 48 hours to allow the flavors to meld.
The spicy pickled cucumber slices are ready! Enjoy them on their own, in sandwiches, or as a side to salads.
