    Preparation Steps

    1

Thoroughly wash the figs and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel.

    2

Select a clean canning jar and place the figs inside.

    3

In a saucepan, bring the water, vinegar, brown sugar, salt, cinnamon stick, cloves, bay leaves, black peppercorns, and mustard seeds to a boil.

    4

Finely chop the hot chili pepper and add it to the brine. Simmer for 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

    5

Once the brine has boiled, let it cool slightly before pouring it over the figs.

    6

Pour the lukewarm brine over the figs, ensuring they are completely submerged.

    7

Seal the jar and refrigerate for at least 24 hours. The longer it sits, the more flavorful it will become.

    8

Before serving, let it sit at room temperature for 10 minutes to allow the flavors to fully develop.
