    Preparation Steps

    1

Warm the milk until lukewarm, then stir in the sugar and yeast. Let it stand for 10 minutes until the yeast activates and becomes frothy.

    2

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.

    3

Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract to the flour mixture. Knead until you have a soft, elastic dough.

    4

Knead in the raisins, then cover the dough with a clean kitchen towel and let it rise in a warm place for about 1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.

    5

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and shape it into an oblong loaf.

    6

Place the loaf in a greased loaf pan, cover, and let rise for another 30 minutes.

    7

Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C), then bake the bread for 35-40 minutes, or until golden brown.

    8

Let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn it out onto a wire rack to cool completely.

    9

Slice and serve with butter or jam.
