Grate the fresh ginger and garlic. Have a medium saucepan ready.
Heat the tomato puree in the saucepan, and add the honey, apple cider vinegar, and soy sauce. Stir well to combine.
Add the grated ginger, garlic, brown sugar, and chili powder. Mix thoroughly to allow the flavors to meld.
Pour in the water and simmer the sauce over low heat for 10-15 minutes, or until it has slightly thickened.
Season with salt, and let it cool for a few minutes. Serve warm with grilled meats, vegetables, or rice.
