Brew a serving of fresh coffee and set aside to keep warm.
Warm the milk and froth it until it reaches a silky smooth texture. You can use a handheld milk frother or the steam wand on an espresso machine.
Add the vanilla extract and sugar to the warm milk, then stir well to combine the flavors.
Pour the coffee into the bottom of a tall glass, then slowly layer the vanilla milk on top. Spoon the milk foam over the top.
