Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
Dice the cold butter and rub it into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse breadcrumbs.
Add the egg, milk, vanilla sugar, and vanilla extract, then quickly mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and form it into a disc about 1 inch (3 cm) thick.
Cut the disc into 6-8 wedges and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
Once baked, let them cool for a few minutes before serving fresh.
