In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and a pinch of salt. This will be the dry base for your waffle batter – whisk thoroughly to avoid any lumps.
In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs, then add the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth, then pour into the dry ingredients.
Mix the batter until it is smooth and lump-free, then let it rest for 10 minutes. This will help the waffles cook more evenly and be softer.
Preheat your waffle iron and lightly grease it with butter. Pour in a portion of the batter and cook for 4-5 minutes, or until golden brown. Let cool slightly, then cut into smaller, bite-sized pieces.
Wash the fruit. Remove the stems from the strawberries and halve or quarter them. Peel and slice the banana. Wash and pick the grapes from the stems. Make sure no leaves or stems remain.
Thread the waffle pieces and fruit onto the wooden skewers, alternating between them. Serve immediately while fresh, or store in the refrigerator for a few hours to enjoy cold. A great idea for entertaining or a snack!
